Residential Lighting Made Easy Program

It seems like an easy thing to do, but it is surprisingly complicated
when you move past replacing the standard 60 Watt table lamp.

We only use the highest rated Energy Star bulbs, and you see your lighting choices in your own home before you buy them. Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs may produce a light that looks different to you. Special care needs to be taken in replacing dimmable bulbs and ceiling reflector bulbs with CFLs.

We have customers who are amazed to realize they have more than 100 bulbs in their home! In many cases, they can replace a bulb that consumes 40 watts of electricity/hour with one that only sips 3 watts of electricity/hour.

We not only can help you save energy, but also reduce unnecessary packaging. Have you ever seen all the packaging that surrounds the typical CFL sold in a plastic clamshell at Wal-Mart or Home Depot? Multiply that by 40 or 60, and you have bags and bags of waste.

Through the Lighting Made Easy Program, you can change almost every bulb with an energy efficient bulb. We will also provide you with a container so we can recycle your CFL bulbs when they reach the end of their life (often after 10,000 hours of use). You might think it will be difficult to find bulbs for all of the different size lights and lamps in your home, but don't worry, My Eco Lamp consultant comes prepared.

Save Money! CFLs are an easy way to save money on your electricity bill. CFLs use just a small fraction of the energy of regular incandescent bulbs, so even though a CFL costs more initially, you’ll more than make up the difference in energy savings over the lifetime of the bulb. CFLs and Cold Cathodes last 10-25 times as long as incandescent bulbs, so you’ll save even more on replacement costs. And CFLs produce 70% less heat than incandescents, which means you’ll save on cooling costs, too! Lighting makes up to 20% of a household’s electricity cost, so the savings will add up as you replace more bulbs.

Reduce Greenhouse Gases! CFLs are also a great way to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global climate change. By replacing a 100 watt incandescent bulb with a CFL, you can prevent the release of about 490 pounds of carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) from a coal burning power plant over the life of the bulb. (For comparison, burning one gallon of gas in your car produces about 19 pounds of carbon dioxide.)
